Position Purpose

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated choir director to provide musical guidance and direction to the choral ensembles and show choir program of Wahlert Catholic High School.

Under the general supervision of the school principal, the successful candidate will develop students' understanding and appreciation of the art of music and will identify, promote, and develop each student's talents in vocal musical expression.

Essential Functions

• Develops and administers music education curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives
• Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to all student learning
• Develops a balanced music program
• Conducts ongoing assessment of student musical learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs
• Utilizes repertoire of all types of music literature, as appropriate
• Plans, coordinates rehearsals for, and directs students in musical programs and performances outside the classroom
• Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping and grading
• Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents
• Maintains standards for student behavior needed to ensure a productive learning atmosphere
• Collaborates with colleagues and community in and outside of the building
• Selects and requisitions appropriate music supplies and maintains inventory records, and ensures equipment is in good working order

• Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
• Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
