Job Overview
Newt Marine Service, a reliable fixture in the Upper Mississippi marine service industry, is looking for shipyard workers.. This position offers variety in your work day. Shipyard workers assist the welding crews and maintenance crews in fabricating projects and boat and barge construction and maintenance. Other duties include maintenance on towboats and barges and other shipyard activities on the drydock including working on or near the water helping maintain our fleet of boats.

Responsibilities
· Performs general manual labor tasks including running errands, sweeping, loading, lifting, and moving equipment / material, and paint prep and painting.
· Works under direct supervision following clear and detailed instructions.
· May be assigned the duties and responsibilities of other positions for which qualifications are met.
· Storage and staging of various tools/materials.
· Loading and unloading of vehicles.
· General clean-up/daily housekeeping.
· Standing Firewatch.
· Heavy lifting of tools, material, and equipment.
· Perform any other assignments or tasks as needed or requested by management to assist in accomplishing the organization’s objectives and goals.
Physical Demands:
· Lift/push/pull 75lbs on occasional basis.
· Lift/push/pull up to 20-30lbs on a frequent basis.
· Perform prolonged standing.
· Bend, squat, crouch, crawl, and kneel.
· Climb in safe manner.
· Working in tight spaces such as but not limited to; engine rooms, bilges, and other restricted spaces.
· Working on or near the water.
· Working in various weather conditions, heat, cold, rain, & snow.
· Must meet “fit for duty” requirements (pre-employment drug test, physical, and agility test)
Basic Requirements
· Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
· Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
· Must have and maintain a valid/current driver’s license (when required to operate company vehicles).
· Must have dependable transportation to get to work.

Starting wage $19 per hour and up depending on experience.
