Seamstress

Job Overview

The Seamstress is responsible for maintenance of resident clothing items. This role also assists in the design, creation and repair of customized and adaptive devices and equipment for residents to more fully participate in ordinary activities of life. This role requires a collaborative working relationship with all necessary departments in the performance of its operations.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

1. Ability to mend and sew on a regular and industrial sewing machine.
2. Ability to operate an industrial sewing machine and sew heavy materials.
3. Ability to hand stitch and sew.
4. Ability to follow directions as presented in sewing patterns.
5. Ability to create customized patterns for unique and/or unusual sewing projects to meet the needs of the residents.
6. Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment in the completion of department duties.

Education, Experience & Training:

1. Free of a conviction or prior employment history of child or resident abuse or dependent adult abuse.
2. No education requirements.
3. A minimum of three years sewing experience.
