Job Overview

Under the direct supervision of the Design and Engineering Manager, the Solar Design Specialist is responsible for gathering site information to develop solar designs for residential projects, typically ranging in size from 0 – 25+ kW DC.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Including but not limited to:
    • Layout of and quantity of modules needed in roof and ground scenarios.
    • Shading percentages and array production.
    • Inverter choice and location.
    • Conduit routing, electrical component sizes and locations.
    • Electrical point-of-connection.
    • Project cost estimating.
    • Customer-facing report generation displaying specific project information.
    • Writing scope of work statements.
    • Creation project bill-of-materials and construction documents.
  • Review projects with the Electrical, Construction, and Management teams to ensure accuracy.
  • Collaborate with Core Sales team to understand customer goals and project needs.
  • Manage workload of having multiple projects in different stages.
  • Update project statuses in CRM for accuracy in reporting.
  • Additional duties as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Valid driver’s license and insurable under Eagle Point Solar’s insurance policy.
  • Strong verbal and written communication.
  • Motivated, collaborative, and team focused.
  • Ability to work in a fast pace environment.
  • Comfortable working in and around electrical equipment.
  • Experience using industry specific tools including: Energy Toolbase, Helioscope, Scanifly, and SketchUp.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to work on roofs of varying material, pitch, and height.
  • Ability to lift up-to 50 lbs.

Work Hours and Location

  • This position is a full-time exempt position located in the office at Eagle Point Solar in Dubuque, IA. Regular business hours are Monday – Friday from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.

  • 5% weekly travel
