Position for the Acute and Urgent Care Clinic locations
Grand River Medical Group is seeking a confident and empathetic candidate to be a Patient Service Representative within our fast-paced care setting at our Acute and Urgent Care clinics. The duties include welcoming patients, registering them, and verifying demographics. This includes, insurance verification, accepting forms of payment, answering telephone calls and other duties as necessary
The ideal candidate would possess strong verbal communication skills and professionalism. You will responsible for creating a positive patient experience and multi-tasking to ensure a streamlined care experience.
As a Patient Service Representative, you will need the ability to use office equipment such as computers, telephones, and fax and copy machine. You will become knowledgeable of the patient scheduling program and electronic medical record, with training provided.
This is a PRN, as needed, position. Acute and Urgent Care Clinics are open Monday-Friday, 7:30am-7:00pm, and Saturday-Sunday, 8:30am-4:00pm.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Interview patients to complete insurance and privacy forms.
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments, cancelations, check-ups and physician referrals.
- Answer telephones and questions regarding insurance and payments and direct calls to appropriate staff.
- Review, update, or obtain patient information making necessary changes to ensure correct billing and enter demographics into system. Verify insurance information/status.
- Accept payment of copays, deductibles, statement balances and balance cash drawer daily.
- Schedule/cancel appointments for patients; ensure that all procedures are properly scheduled in the computer system. Complete schedule maintenance as directed.
- Perform clerical duties for the daily operation of the practice.
Education/Experience/Skills:
- Ability to provide a high-quality customer experience with each interaction.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Friendly, empathetic, and accountable.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Three months to one year similar or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to use office equipment, such as computer, telephone, fax, copier, calculator.
- Knowledge of patient scheduling program and electronic medical record.
