Are you tired of doing the same thing day after day? You should consider becoming a transportation safety consultant. This is a home-based position and we will provide your office equipment and IT support, and offer you training and support from our home office. All of your business expenses will be covered.
Why consulting?
You will be able to share your expertise with motor carriers of varying sizes and locations throughout the United States. Two things can surely be promised - No two days will EVER be the same and you will learn something new every day. Safety Management Services Company (SMSC), a subsidiary of Cottingham & Butler, Inc. (23rd largest insurance brokerage in the U.S.) is currently seeking a bright and highly motivated individual to join our team of transportation safety consultants.
Typical projects may include:
Transportation safety assessments, risk improvement process loss evaluations for motor vehicle crashes and work-related injuries, mock FMCSA compliance investigations, planning and presenting at risk control workshops/safety seminars, writing technical reports, developing safety service plans, developing and conducting transportation safety webinars, developing and conducting training programs for professional drivers and operations’ staff, and staying abreast of current events within the transportation safety realm.
Qualifications:
We prefer candidates with safety or operational knowledge and experience within the transportation industry. Familiarity with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and a minimum of three years of transportation safety experience (motor carrier and/or loss control) is preferred, but not mandatory. A Certified Director of Safety (CDS) or Certified Safety Supervisor (CSS) certification from or working towards the North American Transportation Institute (NATMI) is preferred, but not mandatory. Travel is required and typically consists of 2-3 overnights per week.
Why C&B:
At Cottingham & Butler we sell a promise to help our clients through life’s toughest moments. To ensure we keep that promise, we hold ourselves to a set of principles that we believe position our clients and our company for long-term success. These principles have become a driving force of our culture and share many common themes with the values of our clients. First, we hire and develop amazing people that have an insatiable desire to succeed, are committed to learning, and thrive on challenge. Secondly, we pride ourselves on serving our clients best interest through quality service, innovative solutions, and constantly evaluating our performance. Third, we have embraced and are guided by the theme of “better every day” constantly pushing ourselves to be better than yesterday. Ultimately, we get more energy from the future we are creating for our people, our clients, and our company than from our past success.
As an organization, we are very optimistic about the future and have incredibly high expectations for our people and our performance. We also understand that our growth is fueled by becoming better not bigger – growth funds investments in new resources to better serve our clients and provide the career opportunities our employees want and deserve.
