Almost Home at St. John’s Lutheran Church, a shelter for homeless men with children, is seeking a new full-time Executive Director.

JOB DESCRIPTION                                                   

OVERVIEW

• Develops, coordinates and implements a comprehensive strategy to address homelessness in the community by working in partnership with local funders, system agencies, community members and organizations.
• Oversees daily management of the shelter.
• Oversees financial and funding activities, including grant writing and reporting.
• Provides and coordinates community leadership by interacting and communicating with stakeholders.
• Provides, facilitates and coordinates advocacy regarding issues related to homelessness.
• Provides and coordinates practical solutions for identified concerns, issues and problems.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree that enhances a non-profit organization’s administration and leadership.
• Three years of experience in an administrator role including supervision of staff.
• Knowledge of homelessness issues and trends both locally and nationally.
• Knowledge of pertinent Federal, State and local laws, codes and regulations.
• Be creative in an environment of changing funding, regulations and priorities.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to make creative, independent judgments/actions based on the circumstances is required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as math, computer and analytical skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced office environment with some travel, evening and weekend hours.
• Must read, speak, write and understand English.
• Physically able to meet the demands of the position.
• Background check, drug test, and a valid driver’s license required.
