THE OPPORTUNITY
We have an immediate opening in Peosta, Iowa for a Senior Product Engineer — Track System who will be responsible to manage engineering activities on current products. This includes leading product improvement to resolve performance/durability issues, warranty issues, customer dissatisfaction or request. They will also be supporting the development and implementation of some of the cost reduction ideas as well as business continuity projects.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Lead development and improvement of Track system for OEM customer;
- Be the technical lead for the team (Engineers and designers) working on the product under their responsibility;
- Perform root cause analysis on product related issues;
- Develop technical solutions to resolve issues;
- Execute or ensure execution of all validation activities required for proposed design solutions (hand calculations, FEA, lab test, field test,…);
- Lead technical reviews (design reviews) with internal partners (engineering, manufacturing, validation, …) and external customers/suppliers;
- Develop and update DFMEA to evaluate risk of proposed design/technical solutions;
- Evaluate impacts of proposed changes with different stakeholders (cost, manufacturing, service,..);
- Ensure that technical documentation for products under their responsibility is up to date (models, drawings, List of platforms, list of top levels and related ECN, …);
- Develop and investigate technical solutions that could generate cost savings;
- Provide technical support to the plants for key manufacturing processes (bearing setting, seal assembly, paint, …)
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
- Bachelor' degree in mechanical engineering;
- You have at least 10 years of experience as mechanical engineer;
- You have experience into heavy machinery;
- You have knowledge on mechanical design and materials;
- You have good knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, welding and casting;
- You are familiar with product development process (PDP);
- You have knowledge about geometrical tolerancing (GD&T);
- You are proficient in design using 3D software (Knowledge of CREO is an asset);
- You have the ability to solve problems using a structured methodology;
- You know how to manage several projects simultaneously, and can prioritize with autonomy and initiative;
- You are an excellent collaborator and team player.
