Job Overview

Work at your own pace, on your own time and master your skills in the short-term Welding (GMAW) Competency-Based Education (CBE) program. You’ll use an online platform for the lecture portion of the class that includes videos, reading, assignments and assessments, and complete hands-on welding projects with your instructor in the Welding Lab on campus. The flexibility of this program allows you to reserve booth time that fits with your schedule to develop basic GMAW welding and blueprint reading skills. Welding Lab availability is 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Thursday. You’ll be prepared for immediate employment or continued training in our extended Welding diploma program!

Before registering into this class, you will complete an Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) General Industry 10-Hour Online class #94327. When you complete the online class a representative from Northeast Iowa Community College will reach out to you for the next step to get into the Career Pathway Certificate Welding (GMAW) Competency-Based Education (CBE) class.  You will also receive an OSHA 10 General Industry certification card.

The short-term training program offers tuition assistance for qualifying students. Contact NICC Program Developer Scott Loeffelholz at loeffelholzsc@nicc.edu or at 844-642-2338 Ext. 2285.
