Job Overview
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION Validates and explains the costing variance for each production plan through variance analysis and data entry of shop floor documents.
ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Enters production units and raw materials usage in system. Collects, reviews, and verifies shop floor documents. Calculates production units and raw material usage and enters into ERP system. Collaborates with production staff and IS to resolve discrepancies. Occasionally works to improve and expedite processes. Elevates unresolved issues to manager for further direction or support.
Prepares variance analysis reports. For each production plan, calculates cost variance on all formula changes between standard and actual consumption. Investigates variances in collaboration with production staff. Prepares weekly and monthly production costing variance reports for distribution to Management. Ensures timely submission, accuracy, and validity of cost variances.
Physical Activities: Enters and locates information on a computer. Visually verifies information, often in small print. Communicates with employees via telephone, in person, and/or electronic mail.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): As required by visiting facility.
Travel: May travel occasionally between locations during shift primarily for training purposes.
Technical Experience: Minimum 1 year accounting experience. General knowledge of accounting principles required. Must be proficient with personal computers, 10-key, and MS Office suite, especially Excel. Experience with ERP software a plus. Must be able to work independently, be detail oriented and organized while working with a high degree of accuracy.
Industry Experience: Preference for manufacturing or food processing organization.
Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Preferred Education: Some college, especially accounting classes.
