POSITION PURPOSE:
Under general supervision, performs radio logic procedures in the MRI area. The age of the patients served range from infants to geriatrics. Customers include: patient, family/visitors, co-workers/volunteers, nurses, physicians, and vendors, as well as, regulatory commissioning agents.

What you will do:

- Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior.
- Performs other duties consistent with purpose of job as directed.
- Produces quality MRI images by utilizing adequate positioning skills and technical factors, as well as, knowledge of anatomical structures pertinent to the patient population of infants to geriatrics. Sends images to PACS for interpretation.
- Informs patients of examinations being performed and obtains consent to perform procedure.
- Transports patients to and from Radiology as needed.
- Assists the Radiologist in the administration of contrast material.
- Practices proper magnet safety techniques in accordance with prescribed safety standards in regards to self, patients, when in the MRI suite.
- Demonstrates knowledge of office procedures and duties within the Radiology Department.
- Checks requisitions and charts to confirm the correct examination and obtain any other information needed prior to performing the examination.
- Verifies correct patient using two patient identifiers before beginning a procedure.
- Maintains daily supplies in assigned work area and recommends reordering of items.
- Demonstrates activities to impact changes within the department and with other departments.
- Promotes and establishes effective relationships within the department, with other departments, physicians, and with hospital guests and clients.
- Takes an active role in enhancing abilities to carry out job functions through personal and professional/job-related growth and development.
- Demonstrates a customer focused/professional behavior at all times.
- Maintains the standard continuing education requirements.
- Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.
What we are looking for:
- Must have basic understanding of principles of MRI.
- Must be certified in Basic Life Support.
- Must be able to provide direction to and supervision of other employees.
- Must have minimum typing skills.
- Must be able to select proper technical factors for MRI equipment.
- Must have a high degree of independent decision-making ability.
- Must be able to work well with patients, visitors and staff and possess good communication skills.
- Must have knowledge of sterile technique.
- Must be able to perform basic math.
- Possess strong interpersonal skills and demonstrate the ability to effectively work with other hospital employees and guests in a helpful, courteous manner.
- Must be competent to provide care within assigned unit to the population described in the Unit's description of service.
- Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
- MRI board eligible or obtain boards within 12 months of hire date.
