Position Summary:
University of Wisconsin-Platteville Athletics is excited to invite candidates for the Manager of Pioneer Activity Center (PAC) opportunity.
The Manager of the PAC is responsible for coordinating and promoting the Pioneer Activity Center (PAC). The PAC includes the following facilities: Weight Room/Cardio Fitness Center, Pool, Indoor Running Track, Racquetball Courts, Outdoor Track, 4 multi-purpose courts, 3 wooden basketball courts and Indoor Walking Track. They will oversee and perform activities including policy development and enforcement, program development and expansion, participant eligibility, and/or risk management. This position also serves as the intramural and group fitness coordinator.
This is a 12 month position and is benefit and paid leave eligible. Salary of $51,000.
Responsibilities:
- Direct all operations of the Pioneer Activity Center (PAC) including staffing, membership promotion and activation, budget, equipment, scheduling, maintenance, repairs, programming, etc.
- Develop, monitor, and adhere to annual operating budgets.
- Provide vision and develop short and long term goals and objectives.
- Purchase and maintain all equipment housed in the PAC and keep in good working order.
- Collaborate with university entities such as: Athletics, Health & Human Performance Department, Clubs, etc. to promote and accommodate wellness to the university community.
- Keep up-to-date on new developments in the recreational sports and facility management profession and to provide new programs, activities and best practices to meet student needs in the areas of aquatics and recreation.
- Attend state, regional and national conferences, workshops and certification programs and assist student staff in attending and participating in personal and professional development opportunities.
- Assist in the operation of the Williams Fieldhouse. Duties may include night and weekend supervision, and supervision of facility set-up and take-down for all intercollegiate and special events. Work in coordination with the Recreational Sport and Athletics Facilities Director, Athletic Director and Health and Human Performance Chair to schedule athletics activities, camps, clinics, athletic fundraising/special events, and academic classes to use the PAC facilities.
- Recruit, hire, train, schedule, evaluate and supervise all student employees for the PAC, approximately 50 student employees.
- Assist the Recreational Sports and Facilities Director to recruit, hire, train, schedule, evaluate and supervise student Building Supervisors (approximately 5).
- Recruit, hire, train, schedule, evaluate, supervise, and certify (lifeguarding, first aid, and CPR for the Professional Rescuer) all Lifeguards. Maintain lifeguard instruction certification and CPR/first aid instruction certification to instruct, train and certify student lifeguards and student workers.. Process payroll of all student employees.
- Manage day to day operations for all intramural sports (20 total sport programs).
- Teach four fitness courses.
- Recruits general student body to participate in 20 different intramural sports
- Issues all equipment for 20 different intramural sport programs weekly
- Attends all weekend and evening intramural sports competitions
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Facility Management, Sports Administration, Recreation or related field
- 2 years experience in athletic or recreation facility operations.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work nights and weekends.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Demonstrated proficiency in using computer systems and software for word processing, database management, email and internet.
- Must be an energetic, proactive and collaborative team player with a passion for supporting students
Preferred:
- Master's Degree
- American Red Cross CPR/First Aid Instructor Training
- American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Training (WSIT)
- Lifeguard Instructor Training (LGIT)
- CPR/First-Aid certifications
- NIRSA Certified Recreational Sports Specialist (CRSS)
- NSPF Certified Pool Operator (CPO)
- AFAA or ACE aerobic certifications
