Job Overview

As the Routing & Pre-Load Truck Driver at Crescent Electric, you will oversee a variety of transportation activities, including, preparing and auditing loads for delivery, creating manifests, and building efficient routes. In this role, you will also serve as a driver ensuring the timely and accurate delivery and/or pick-up of goods to specified locations. You will maintain safe operation of the vehicle, vehicle maintenance, and loading/unloading trucks in an efficient manner.

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Drive company trucks making prompt, on-schedule same day deliveries and pick-ups while notifying management of any delays in the delivery schedule.

  • Load and unload trucks in an accurate and efficient manner.

  • Establish familiarity with same day delivery routes and customers’ preferences during those same day deliveries.

  • Effectively communicate to customers and all levels of staff. Report and observe customer problems and opportunities.

  • Maintain vehicle properly and perform daily pre and post trip inspections. Record damage to vehicles, product, and/or equipment.

  • Maintain a harmonious relationship with co-workers and customers.

  • Identify deficiencies and/or areas of improvement in the delivery process and communicate them to management.

  • Reconcile all RDC fleet fuel receipts.

  • Build next day delivery routes for branch delivery vehicles utilizing company designated routing software.

  • Create manifests from Innovo Route software system and assign drivers and most efficient routes accordingly. Keeping timed orders, a high priority while maintaining route efficiency. 

  • Lock, print, and bin, all manifests accordingly while assigning specific drivers to specific routes and vehicles. Maintain an assignment of CDL vehicles to CDL qualified drivers when routing.

  • Double check finished, audited material to ensure all material is packaged and labeled correctly, the number of skids, pipe, bundles, boxes, coils, reels, bags, etc. matches what is on the paperwork, and that all customer paperwork is included with each manifest.

  • Take corrective action to address any errors with leadership and fix said issues before preloading trucks for routes.

  • Prepare all skids, pipe, bundles, boxes, coils, and reels for shipment and gauge the volume for specific vehicles to load per individual route by palletizing, wrapping, weighing, and staging for visual volume.

  • Preload in a safe and efficient manner all daily local routes out of the RDC in specific vehicles according to stop/manifest order, while maintaining compliance with DOT volume/weight restrictions.

  • Weigh all skids, boxes, reels, and coils for proper DOT compliant weight management of company vehicles.

  • Responsible for facility closing procedures, including, but not limited to, maintaining that all doors are closed, secured, and alarm is set before leaving the RDC facility.

  • Ability to utilize, or learn to use, all necessary: computer software, cell phone applications, industrial equipment, merchandise processing equipment (such as hand-held scanners).

  • Apply effective verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.

  • Attention to detail, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work efficiently and meet minimum productivity standards.

  • Reliable, open to change, and adaptable.

  • Perform basic mathematics and arithmetic.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license. Drivers must meet Crescent Electric Supply Company’s requirements to drive company vehicles as stated in the Driving Company Vehicles Policy found in the Employee Handbook and Policy Manual.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain DOT medical certification.

  • Ability obtain and maintain forklift certification.

  • Drivers of vehicles are required to meet Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. Drivers of vehicles of 26,001+ lbs. gross vehicle weight require a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

  • 1+ year working in a dispatch related capacity.

  • 6+ months of product delivery experience.
