Job Overview

Summary:

The person in this position reports to the ClearSpan Operations’ Manager and is responsible for supervising activities in the Pipe and Fulfillment Departments. While there are daily leadership duties with this position, there may also be a time spent processing parts depending on the needs of the department. This is a safety sensitive position because this is a hands-on supervisory role working with power and hand tools, drill presses, Danly automatic press, tube benders, saws, band saws, CNC machines and forklifts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Pipe Department:

Supervision: Oversee and evaluate the performance of employees in the Pipe and Fulfillment departments.

Policy Interpretation: Interpret and implement company policies related to production and supervision goals.

Work Assignment: Assign tasks and allocate resources efficiently to meet company objectives. Coordinate departmental work with other activities within the company.

Problem Solving: Analyze production issues and recommend or implement solutions to enhance productivity.

Production Planning: Assess work order requirements, prioritize needs, and schedule production to meet sales commitments.

Blueprint Interpretation: Read and understand blueprints and specifications to determine production requirements. Establish work processes and methods to meet these requirements.

Equipment Setup: Set up equipment and processes as necessary. Recommend equipment and working condition changes to improve production efficiency.

On-Time Shipping: Ensure timely shipping of all orders.

Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with the Continuous Improvement department to enhance safety, quality, delivery, and cost-effectiveness.

Quality Control: Monitor the quality of production output and make adjustments as necessary to maintain or improve quality standards.

Inventory Management: Keep track of pipe inventory and production supplies, and request materials when needed.

Record Keeping: Maintain records of significant activities and events related to personnel and equipment performance. Enforce safety regulations and report safety issues.

Hiring and Training: Interview job applicants and provide hiring recommendations. Train new employees in all aspects of pipe fabrication and fulfillment

Production Work: Perform production tasks when necessary.

Strategic Contribution: Contribute to the company's strategic plan, goals, and overall initiatives.

Other Duties: Complete any other duties as assigned by the ClearSpan Operations Manager or relevant authorities.

Fulfillment:

Fulfillment Supervision: Oversee the fulfillment activities, ensuring orders are processed, packed, and shipped accurately and on time.

Order Processing: Coordinate order processing, ensuring that customer orders are accurately shipped in the system.

Packaging: Supervise packaging operations to ensure that products are packed securely and in accordance with company standards.

Shipping: Manage the shipping process to ensure timely delivery.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of corporate production and inventory control system
  • Knowledge of corporate policies and procedures related to supervising employees
  • Ability to coordinate complex activities
  • Thorough knowledge of all equipment and processes used in pipe production
  • Ability to operate all production equipment used for pipe fabrication
  • Ability to respond to complex demands
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be forklift certified through company related training if needed
  • Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Computer experience required
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Skilled at interpersonal communication including conflict resolution
  • Skilled at problem solving and organizational skills
  • Skilled at interpreting and reading blueprints and engineering specifications
  • Skilled at planning and organizing activities

Education and/or Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Two years of experience preferred.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Must have excellent measuring skills.

In addition to lifting, the job requires various carrying, pushing/pulling, kneeling, crawling, and squatting.

The job is required to be performed inside mostly however, this person may be outdoors exposed to all sort of weather elements including hot, humid, dry, dusty, and cold conditions both inside and outside. The noise level is moderate for this position.
