Job Overview
SUMMARY
Responsible for providing material availability in support of the customers’ requirements. The Expeditor is responsible for assisting in the tracking and expediting of orders with vendors. The Expeditor monitors orders to ensure the materials are delivered in the specified amount of time.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESONSIBILITIES
- Maintain a record of the outstanding purchase orders and contact vendors through appropriate means of communication (telephone and/or email).
- Process order acknowledgements and PCNs.
- Review and process various reports and advise on order adjustments, as necessary.
- Communicate to appropriate parties the status of availability on any part short for the production schedule.
- Research and resolve any issues regarding shipping discrepancies and communicate timely correspondence back to both the customers and vendors.
- Monitor sales orders to ensure that they are delivered in the specified amount of time.
- Generate a list of purchase orders that have fallen past due and follow up with the GIS (Green Industrial Supply) vendors for sufficient tracking, backorder information and/or proof-of deliveries.
- Maintains contact with the shipping companies to prevent delays in shipment.
- Fill in for other Expeditors as needed.
- Correspond with customers and vendors in a friendly and professional manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Regular and reliable attendance is required for this position.
- Maintains business relationships with vendors to ensure their assistance if an unexpected event requires expedited shipping of an order.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- A high school degree or equivalent
- Ability to prioritize, organize, multi-task, problem solve and meet deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively; written, verbal and listening.
- Strong computer application skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
- Capable of assimilating and understanding substantial amounts of data.
Preferred
- An associate degree
- 1-3 years of computer or customer service work experience
- Previous experience with import/export procedures, scheduling, purchasing, order fulfillment, or material planning specifically for kits or sub-assemblies is preferred.
