Clarke University is seeking candidates for the position of Special Assistant to Academic Affairs. Reporting directly to the Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA), the successful candidate will function generally as the senior administrative assistant to the VPAA and Academic Dean and as coordinator of beginning-of-academic-year activities (e.g., New Faculty Orientation) and several major end-of-academic-year events of the University (Faculty and Staff Recognition, Honors Banquet, and Baccalaureate/Commencement). This person will be primary scheduler for both the VPAA and Academic Dean and will manage scheduling of multiple ad hoc committees. They will be a primary interface between faculty and the Office of Academic Affairs.
The successful candidate must be highly organized, diplomatic, courteous, and adaptable, and an excellent communicator orally and in writing; be able to maintain strict confidentiality, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and have a sense of humor. They must be able to anticipate needs based on past action and an understanding of situations within the Office of Academic Affairs. They must be able to work within a team to accomplish common goals, while also possessing the ability to work independently.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 3 years of experience in positions with similar duties is required. Graduation from an accredited four-year degree program is preferred.
The successful candidate must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products, primarily Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint and be able to do minor troubleshooting with these products. They must also be able to learn technology. Experience with Colleague/Datatel, Anthology/Campus Labs, Slate desirable but not required.
