JOB DESCRIPTION
MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR
BASIC FUNCTION
Responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all Ice Arena maintenance activities, including overall maintenance and general housekeeping.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
a) Reports to: Ice Arena General Manager
b) Supervises: Ice Arena Laborer
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate and supervise maintenance repairs and special projects
- Purchase all maintenance supplies (mechanical & janitorial)
- Develop and oversee all preventative maintenance procedures
- Design & implementation of capital improvements
- Develop and maintain written maintenance policies and procedures
- Evaluate and supervise staff to maintain adequate staffing and enhanced productivity
- Ensure maintenance personnel follow established safety regulations
- Ensure maintenance staff is current on all necessary training, licensing, certifications, and vaccinations
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
- 5 yearsâ experience in mechanical maintenance
- HVAC knowledge, including chillers, heat pumps, energy recovery units, air handlers, Iowa State HVAC license a plus
- Experience in plumbing, including grease separators, new City of Dubuque FOG program
- Experience in all types of construction, renovation, structural
- 5 years of supervisory experience
STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE
- Knowledge of electrical codes
- Knowledgeable in building codes and safety regulations
- Must be current on all OSHA requirements
- Knowledgeable of boilers, compressors, generators
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Background in safety, with experience chairing safety committee a plus
- Excellent people management skills
- Able to take independent action
- Able to instruct and direct staff members
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a team environment
MENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Able to lift up to 30 lbs.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS
- Inside work
- Occasional outside work
- Loud noises
- Hazard exposure (mechanical parts, electrical current)
- On call 7 days a week
- Occasional travel
