This position is eligible for a flexible work schedule arrangement at the present time. The arrangement may be delayed for training or other job acclimation purposes and remains subject to change. 

Your Responsibilities

As the Material Flow Manager for John Deere Dubuque Works in Dubuque, IA, you will:

  • Provide strategic leadership for Material Flow. Leverage a centralized and aligned material flow organization to develop and execute a cohesive strategic vision for Material Flow that enables process improvement, drives accountability, and delivers on critical factory initiatives in support of manufacturing and operational excellence.
  • Lead a team responsible for Material Flow planning and execution including roles in material flow engineering, material replenishment, packaging, and material control. Lead execution of material flow processes and strategies to meet factory goals and ensure material availability at point of use. Create a positive culture and employee experience while fostering talent development for material flow.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders across factory Operations and within the Materials team to execute continuous improvement initiatives and strategic material flow projects. Provide material flow leadership in PDP. Ensure robust connection and integration between material flow, lean manufacturing initiatives, and the factory automation team.

What Skills You Need

  • 4 or more years of experience in one or more related areas: Material Flow, Operations, Supply Management.
  • 3 or more years of demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing processes and factory operations.
  • 3 or more years demonstrated team leadership and mentoring experience.
  • Data analytics, root cause analysis, and corrective action skills.
  • Deep understanding of material flow principles.
  • Skills and experience in interpersonal communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating cross-functionally to influence and drive results.

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Experience with line design and material presentation.
  • Project management experience.
  • Deep understanding of SAP production control principles (i.e. BOMS, routings, consumption).
  • Knowledge and application of Supply Management processes and tools.
  • Prior experience monitoring departmental budgets to achieve budgetary goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically to establish and execute a vision.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively across multiple levels of the organization.
  • Prior salary supervisor experience.

Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology, Supply Chain, Business/Management, or Related Field

The John Deere Dubuque Works is one of the key facilities in Deere & Company's Construction and Forestry (C&F) Division. The Dubuque Works manufactures backhoe loaders, crawler dozers, and skid steer loaders for the construction industry and knuckleboom loaders and tracked feller bunchers for the forestry industry.  The Dubuque Works also serves as the Center of Excellence for the C&F Division in the areas of Product Engineering, Product Verification and Validation, Supply Management, and Product Support which includes the Dealer Technical Assistance Center.  From a manufacturing perspective, the core competencies of the factory include plate and sheet cutting, machining, welding, paint, and assembly.
