IBMI (AS400) System Manager

Job Overview

The IBMi (AS/400) Manager provides guidance to IBMi support and development team as well as supporting the IBMi users of Hirschbach Motor Lines. The individual will manage the organization's IBMi information systems, including IBM iSeries server hardware and software installation, maintenance, and support for IT infrastructure.

Job Responsibilities

Duties for this position can include the following:

• Manage a team of IBMi Operators and developers focused on enhancing our current IBMi systems.
• Manage, support, and maintain data center HMC, OS, and system patches.
• Monitor the health and security of systems including but not limited to the physical environment that is comprised of power, server, network, storage, and connectivity.
• Monitor systems for threshold adherence, monitoring batch operations, executing tasks required for backup and recovery operations, perform data replication and daily/weekly/monthly system backups, escalate, resolve, and document issues.
• Onboard new users and clients by planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of server hardware, software, VPN connections and operating and system management systems.
• Satisfy SLA commitments, regulate base levels of severity, availability, and response times, enforce, and ensure 99.9% up-time system availability.
• Collaborate and communicate with leadership, colleagues, clients, and vendors to ensure optimal system performance.

Job Training and Education Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
• Experience with IBMi (AS/400) operating system.
• Experience with EDI, data conversions, and server-to-server FTP automation.

Strong knowledge on operations/service delivery and working knowledge of commonly used concepts, best practices, and procedures within the IBM iSeries (AS/400) environment.
