Job Overview
East Central Intergovernmental Association and Community Solutions of Eastern Iowa is seeking a Homeless Program Coordinator.
Under the Director of Special Programs supervision, responsible for connecting individuals and families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness to community resources. Responsible for acting as the first point of contact for homeless individuals and families and providing referrals to appropriate services; conducting intake assessments, developing case plans, and providing resource and referral services. Responsible for managing the day-to-day activities and program operation of the federal, state, and local grants related to homelessness and housing insecurity.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Conduct intake interviews and initial assessments of homeless individuals and families over the phone and in person by utilizing Coordinated Entry protocols to connect them to the proper intervention and services. Collaborate with homeless shelters, social services agencies, local governments and other local service providers. Participate in office-hour housing helpline coverage and conduct homeless outreach, participate in the Point in Time Count for the Homeless population. Develop, track and maintain data base to track intake activities, referrals, grants, contacts, etc. for program activities. Maintain project records, reports, assist in project budgets. Prepare and deliver presentations and conduct outreach before various public and private entities promoting homeless programs and activities.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field, and a minimum of one-year related work experience is required. Related degree and experience may be considered. Experience in housing and/or homeless program case management preferred. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office and using computerized systems for data entry. Knowledge of federal and state grants and programs. Some knowledge of practices and principles of grant administration, ability to prepare reports and to communicate orally and in writing, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with city and county governments, nonprofits, and other agencies, and the public. Must possess a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and be insurable under ECIA’s insurance policy.
