What You Will Do:
Prescription Processing:
- Review and verify prescription orders for accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure prescriptions are filled correctly and promptly.
- Utilize pharmacy software systems to process and track orders.
Medication Dispensing:
- Accurately dispense medications according to prescriptions.
- Perform final checks on filled prescriptions to ensure correctness.
- Maintain accurate records of dispensed medications.
Patient Counseling and Communication:
- Provide medication counseling to patients via phone or other communication methods.
- Address patient inquiries and concerns regarding their medications.
- Educate patients on the proper use, storage, and potential side effects of their medications.
Compliance and Regulatory Adherence:
- Ensure all activities comply with federal, state, and local pharmacy laws and regulations.
- Maintain updated knowledge of pharmacy laws and regulations.
- Participate in internal audits and quality assurance processes.
Collaboration and Coordination:
- Work closely with pharmacy technicians and other staff to optimize workflow.
- Coordinate with healthcare providers to clarify prescription orders and address any discrepancies.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
Inventory Management:
- Assist in the management of medication inventory, including ordering and stocking.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of medications.
- Conduct regular inventory audits and manage expired or recalled medications.
Documentation and Record-Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
- Document all communications with patients and healthcare providers.
- Prepare and submit necessary reports as required by management.
What you will bring to MedOne:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited school of pharmacy.
- Valid pharmacist license in Iowa.
- Prior experience in a mail-order pharmacy or similar setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with pharmacy software systems.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in using pharmacy-related software and technology.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
