Responsibilities
Main Function
- Assists with simple procedures such as shave prep of surgical site, transfer of patients, responding to call lights, cleaning and restocking rooms.
- Transports patients, equipment, supplies, and specimens.
- Verifies patient identification on name band and chart using 2 patient identifiers (name and birthdate) for any patient care related work.
- Assists in maintaining a clean, orderly and safe environment.
- Utilizes a holistic approach (considering physical, psych/social, spiritual, educational, safety, and related criteria) appropriate to the age of the patients served in the assigned service area.
- Demonstrates initiative to improve quality and customer service.
- Balances team and individual responsibilities, objective and open to other’s views, gives and welcomes feedback, contributes to positive team goals, puts success of team above own interest.
Department Support
- Performs routine cleaning on equipment.
- Assists in department cleaning and storing of supplies and linen.
- Assists with room turnover and cleaning.
- Performs tasks as delegated by team members.
Qualifications

Education:

High school diploma/GED or |
· Successful completion of Certified Nursing Aide (CNA) program with active registration on Iowa Direct Care Registry · OR at least at a junior level in an accredited BSN program

Experience:

Previous healthcare experience |
License(s)/Certification(s):
|
Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or within three (3) months from date of hire. |

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

· Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English. · Multicultural sensitivity. · Basic computer skills. · Customer/patient focused. |

Other:

· Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position. · State of Iowa Mandatory Reporter Training possessed or completed within 6 months of hire. |
