Combine your passion to serve your community with your excellence in Finance/ Accounting as the Accounting Manager at Area Residential Care! The Accounting Manager:

  • prepares monthly and annual financial statements,
  • ensures that agency financial accounting and reporting is completed in a timely and accurate manner, and
  • supervises the accounting staff responsible for general ledger transactions, accounts payable and payroll activities.

The salary range for this full-time position is $51,421 - 61,243/year depending on qualifications.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include:

  • Education: Associate degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field.
  • Skills, Experience: Two or more years of relevant experience; demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices, cash management/control, accounts receivable/payable processes, and payroll processing.
  • Must be able to demonstrate clear and effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Other Requirements: Must demonstrate a high level of proficiency with financial management software and Office 365.

Highly qualified applicants will have:

  • Education: B.A./B.S. degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field.
  • Skills, Experience: Four years of relevant experience. Experience with non-profit accounting and financial management is desired. Experience billing third-party payors/ funders desired, but not required.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the agency’s finances and financial systems.
  • Maintain ongoing funding for operations and acquisitions.
  • Ensure cash flow is adequate to meet payroll and other financial obligations.
  • Maintain financial records to meet requirements of various funding sources.
  • Oversee activities of accounting specialists.
  • Ensure general ledger is up to date and reconciled.
  • Create monthly billing for services provided, recognize collections and follow up on outstanding claims/denials.
  • Create monthly financial statements and annual budget.
  • Act as financial liaison for year-end audit, tax and cost report preparation.

The person selected for this role will oversee activities critical to successful agency operations. The Accounting Manager supports the mission of Area Residential Care by ensuring that the agency is able to continue to provide high-quality, ongoing services.

Area Residential Care is a private, non-profit, 501(c) 3 organization, created in 1968 by a group of parents and other interested parties. Its mission is to empower people with intellectual disabilities to achieve their highest quality of life. From its inception, Area Residential Care’s purpose has been to provide community-based services for persons with intellectual disabilities. The organization has grown over the past 40 years to serve an average of 250-275 people with disabilities annually; providing residential, vocational, and day services in Dubuque and Dyersville communities.
