Hours: 10-20 hours per week
Position Overview:
A local non-profit is seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Part-Time Accountant. This role is crucial for maintaining the organization’s financial integrity, supporting the Executive Director, and contributing to its mission.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting Duties:
- Handle daily deposits, accounts receivable (A/R), accounts payable (A/P), and account reconciliation with precision and efficiency.
- Process payroll and update employee payroll changes such as exemptions and raises.
- Maintain accurate records of staff PTO, sick leave, and other time-off occasions.
- Enter financial transactions into the accounting program, including accounts receivable and other assets/liabilities.
- Ensure transaction accuracy and make necessary adjustments.
- Perform general ledger (GL) work, including posting journal entries and conducting monthly reconciliations.
- Prepare and file tax reports, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Assist in preparing financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Analyze financial data to provide insights and recommendations for financial improvements.
- Prepare and assist in annual audits and compliance reviews.
- Troubleshoot and resolve A/R and A/P issues in collaboration with relevant staff.
- Track and follow up on customer deposits.
- Monitor the Time Clock for missed punches and overtime and relay information to relevant staff.
- Liaise with the organization’s accounting firm, providing and receiving necessary information and adjusting financial records as directed.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven experience in accounting, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger management, and tax reporting.
- Familiarity with state and federal financial regulations and the ability to seek additional information as needed.
- Experience with financial analysis and reporting, including preparing financial statements and conducting audits.
- Proficiency in accounting software and office management practices; QuickBooks experience preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.
- Experience in preparing and filing tax documents and compliance reports.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team, including volunteers and staff.
- Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and resourceful.
- Flexible, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic about the non-profit’s mission.
- Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and vehicle registration.
