Job Overview

The University of Dubuque is a growing faith based University that is seeking an Archives and Serials Specialist in the Charles C Myers Library.  The University of Dubuque offers an excellent benefits package including tuition remission, paid holidays, vacation and sick time, and a retirement match. 

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily activities of Archives, including retrieving & refiling documents, providing digital copies of print material, accessioning & deaccessioning documents, responding to requests, in consultation with the Archivist
  • Plan special exhibits featuring the Archives in conjunction with the Archivist
  • Prepare Archives material needed for course assignments
  • Order, process, & manage electronic & print periodicals using a variety of vendors & WorldShare, the Library Management System
  • Staff the reference desk about 10 hours per week
  • Provide support for the information literacy program
  • Supervise student assistant(s)
  • Participate in library planning, library committees, & in other projects as assigned
  • Manage change, work independently, & actively contribute to a team committed to the mission of the University & the library
  • Collect statistics as part of planning or accreditation
  • Shift & weed as needed
  • Work on digital publications
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the University’s Mission

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • Knowledge of computer programs, including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to provide excellent service
  • Ability to work both independently & as a part of a team
  • Ability to organize & manage multiple priorities
  • Effective problem-solving, communication, & interpersonal skills
  • Preferred: Library experience, working in an academic environment, & archival experience
