We are looking for Academic Designers for grades 3-12 for our Science program.  This is a fantastic opportunity to help build our Science program!

This role is remote, and candidates must reside somewhere within the United States.

Academic Designers are content and curriculum experts. They assemble high-quality content based on specific product requirements for programs and understanding the solution design. They collaborate with the Academic Design team as well as Product Managers to help develop the solution design (both conceptualization and implementation).  

What you will be doing:

  •  Author informative and engaging science content (text-book sections, and teacher materials) for middle and high school students in alignment with editorial guidelines and product specifications.
  • Craft engaging and meaningful instruction for a variety of media types that deepens understanding and develops science skills for diverse learners
  • Collaborate with team members, including subject-matter experts, editors, and other technical staff to produce high-quality, standards-aligned content
  • Source images that enhance content and instruction
  • Evaluate existing science assignments for standards alignment and pedagogical best practices as well as recommend solutions for improvement
  • Work proactively to resolve problems and communicate any deviations to progress expectations in advance of deadlines

What you need to be considered:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a science content area (strong preference for Physics and/or Earth Science)
  • 5+ years of classroom instructional experience
  • Excellent written communication skills, including a thorough command of the English language, spelling, writing, and grammar (preference for candidates with experience authoring textbook sections or other authoring experience)
  • Familiarity with iterative, constructivist-based instructional practices
  • Experience writing and reviewing phenomenon-driven instruction for a variety of science concepts and grade levels
  • Familiarity with assessment best practices and interpreting science standards
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize and research scientific accuracy (in both text and in images)
  • Experience with instruction using digital interactives
  • Ability to work as a team member in a fast-paced rapidly changing work environment
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and switch tasks as project deliverables dictate
  • Ability to receive, implement and provide constructive feedback
  • Experience utilizing technology to complete and organize tasks, including proficiency with Microsoft Suite and ability to adjust to unfamiliar technology
  • Preference for experience with, or a willingness to learn, Adobe Suite with highest proficiency using Illustrator or Photoshop and/or experience with any other illustrative platform to scaffold student conceptual understanding by designing relevant infographics

The pay range for this position is between $50,000 - $70,000 annually, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.  Additionally, a full range of medical and/or other benefits may be provided, depending on the position offered.
