Job Overview

Job Title: Material Handler The Material Handler in Shipping and Receiving is responsible for organizing the flow of incoming and outgoing products, transferring goods between departments, and processing waste materials for disposal. Key duties include sorting and placing materials in designated areas such as storage or staging, utilizing hand trucks, electric hoists, or forklifts for efficient movement. This role also involves managing waste processing by organizing and disposing of cardboard and used packaging materials. Forklift operation is required for loading items, containers, and racks, ensuring a smooth and organized workflow within the department.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Transfer materials between departments as needed using appropriate equipment such as hand trucks, forklifts, and electric hoists.
  • Sort and place materials in racks, bins, containers, or designated storage areas.
  • Load and unload products from trucks or containers, ensuring proper inspection and documentation of shipments.
  • Perform waste processing, including organizing and disposing of cardboard, used packaging materials, and other waste.
  • Operate forklifts to safely load individual items, containers, and racks as required.
  • Maintain an organized and clean work area, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  • Assist with inventory management by maintaining accurate records of stock levels and locations.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient and timely movement of goods throughout the facility.

Department/Location: Shipping/ Receiving

Hours: Monday through Friday. Overtime as required.

Job Qualifications:

  • Willingness to operate equipment, including stacker, counterbalance forklift, electric jack.
  • Good physical condition, able to lift 50 lbs. safely.
  • Willingness to work overtime, possibly some Saturdays.
  • Pre-employment drug screen and mobility test is required.
