Job description

Due to the retirement of a long-time employee, Area Residential Care is seeking an Accounting Manager to provide critical oversight of the agency’s accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and administrative support functions. Reporting to the Finance Director, the person in this role is responsible for ensuring the completion of related tasks on a timely basis and to the quality standards required. He/she will train and provide supervisory support to agency accounting and administrative support personnel, and will maintain a system of inventory control for office and other agency supplies and materials.

Qualifications

Minimum required qualifications include:

  • AA degree in Accounting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices, cash management and control, accounts receivable and payable, audits, and payroll systems.
  • A minimum of two years' experience in bookkeeping, finance, or as an office manager.
  • High level of computer proficiency (Office, accounting system, HRIS) and knowledge of records retention and customer service experience.

Highly qualified applicants will have:

  • One year of supervisory experience.
  • A Bachelor's degree or additional relevant coursework.

Area Residential Care is a private, non-profit, 501(c) 3 organization, created in 1968 by a group of parents and other interested parties. Its mission is to empower people with intellectual disabilities to achieve their highest quality of life. From its inception, Area Residential Care’s purpose has been to provide community-based services for persons with intellectual disabilities. The organization has grown over the past 40 years to serve an average of 250-275 people with disabilities annually; providing residential, vocational, and day services in Dubuque and Dyersville communities.
