Job Overview
SUMMARY
Southwest Tech is currently seeking a Dairy Quality Lab Science instructor to teach at the Platteville High School for the 2022 Spring semester. This position is responsible for classroom, laboratory, and practicum instruction related to quality laboratory work in dairy-based food production facilities. The Spring courses include Quality Lab Skills and Quality Microbiology Learning. Current knowledge, skills, and attitudes consistent with the legal and ethical practice of quality laboratory work are required. This position includes face-to-face instruction at the Platteville High School, 8:00-11:30 AM on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and working collaboratively with area production facilities in the oversight of student learning during their practicum course. The position is non-benefited.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
- Provide instruction and promote learning in classroom, laboratory, and practicum settings, regarding the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed by successful quality dairy lab team members.
- Work collaboratively with the Lab Science team in designing and delivering student learning and assessment activities
- Maintain current knowledge and practice regarding dairy quality lab practice.
- Deliver instruction through face-to-face, remote, and online methodologies in theory, laboratory, and practicum settings
- Manage a group of students to meet identified learning outcomes
- Develop a permanent evaluation record of student performance based on set criteria
- Role model, assist, and advise students in achieving academic outcomes and employability skills, including the Southwest Tech Core Abilities
- Work collaboratively with members of the Knox Learning Center team to support student learning needs
- Attend program advisory and WTCS program meetings, as assigned
- Engage with practicum agencies and partners to promote student, program, and College success
- Attend and engage in team, division, council, and College meetings and workgroups
- Participate in procedures and processes established by the College
- Assist with marketing the program and the College
- Evaluate program operations and provide evaluative feedback for program improvement
TRAINING, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Associate’ degree in a related field.
- Have a minimum of 4,000 hours (2 years) of related occupational experience, of which 2,000 hours (1 year) has occurred in the last 5 years.
- Has functional knowledge of Microsoft Office, email, and internet use; and reliable access to the internet.
- Holds and maintains valid WI driver license with the ability to drive to and from assigned work sites throughout the district

SALARY RANGE
$4,800 - $5,850 (Pay calculation is based on education and experience)
