Job Overview

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Freight Analyst will be responsible for receiving, organizing, auditing, disputing, and submitting Ancillary Invoices related to shipping containers for all of Flexsteel. Internally, this person will work closely with people within the Logistics Department at Corporate, the shipping departments and managers of Flexsteel’s Distribution Centers, and key members of the Accounting Department. Externally, this person will be in regular contact with Vendors/NVOCs/Shippers of Container Freight.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

In-take invoices and break them down into several critical data points onto a tracking spreadsheet

Work closely with the Logistics & Compliance Lead to work through invoice issues and establish the best point of contact with the vendor who sent the invoices

Validate the information loaded into the tracking spreadsheet, determining the legitimacy of the container, and the charges being brought forward for it by comparing data from the invoice, a provided backup from the vendor, and Flexsteel’s own documented milestone dates for the container

Coordinate with the Distribution Centers to identify invoices to dispute

Communicate with these vendors via email and phone to work through any missing information and to push back on disputable invoices

Review charges during weekly Ancillary Review meetings, and present Executive Approval requests on invoices that meet certain criteria

Submit invoices and review both Ancillary and Freight invoices within the SAP software, applying the correct accounting codes for these invoices to be paid

Perform other administrative duties as assigned

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

High School education or equivalent is required

1-3 years of related work experience is required

Knowledge of shipping terminology and experience with shipping/receiving preferred

Strong skills with the Microsoft Suite of products, including Excel and Teams

Experience with AS400 and SAP preferred

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Strong analytical skills required
