The fundamental principles and knowledge necessary to operate CNC machines are taught in our state-of-the-art CNC lab, where a blend of classroom and hands-on experience keeps the learning focused on real, practical job skills. You’ll begin by learning to use basic measuring tools and then move on to reading and interpreting manufacturing-part blueprints. You will learn how to safely and efficiently operate CNC mills and lathes, set tool and fixture offsets and use verified programs to build part projects on CNC machines. Finally, you will be introduced to G and M code programming for 2-axis CNC lathes and 3-axis CNC mills. This program will prepare you for immediate employment or continuation in our extended CNC diploma program.

This ‘earn and learn’ course is designed to teach you the basic skills and knowledge of materials and processes associated with cabinet construction and furniture/casework. Through a combination of classwork and 60 hours of paid, hands-on lab work, you will learn tool use and safety, methods of drafting and design, principles of using a CNC router, basics of solid woods, man-made tools used in cabinet making, cabinet joinery, cabinet hardware, and assembly and finishing techniques. You will also design and build your own unique project using the skills you acquire. Additionally, you will receive training about work ethic, soft skills, and problem-solving techniques related to becoming a productive employee.
