Weber Processing

In 1905 Otto Weber migrated to Belleville, Wisconsin from Switzerland and opened a small butcher shop which was the start of the Weber’s family meat business. In 1931 his son, Otto Junior opened up his own butcher shop in Cuba City, Wisconsin where it stands today. Otto Junior worked side by side with his four sons, Reg, Norm, Lee & David who eventually took over the the shop. In 2010 Norm’s son Dan and his wife Tracy took over the business where they continue to operate as fourth generation owners.

Homemade sausages are made fresh on-premise every day, award winning ham, bacon, & other meats are all slow smoked the old fashioned way. Weber’s has received numerous awards and recognitions, Dan Weber was inducted into the AAMP Cured Meat Hall of Fame in 2007 and served as the president of the Illinois Association of Meat Processors in 2006. Dan has also been instrumental in moving the Illinois State Meat Convention back to Champaign, IL so the convention would include hands-on programs at the University of Illinois. Weber’s has competed in both state and national cured meat competitions winning over 500 awards throughout the years Weber’ has also been competitive in the American Association of Meat Processors cured meats competition taking home numerous Champion, Reserve Grand Champion and Grand Champion awards for their sausage and ham products. Dan’s cured and smoked turkey won Best Of Show at the National American Association of Meat Processors competition in 2001.

Child Health Specialty Clinics

Child Health Specialty Clinics (CHSC) is a community-based public health agency serving Iowa children and youth with special health care needs. Approximately 145,000 Iowa children and youth (20%) have a special health care need often requiring services and supports from many different providers and specialists. These include:

  • Chronic conditions like asthma and diabetes
  • Behavioral or developmental disorders like attention deficit hyperactivity disorder or autism
  • Complex medical diagnoses like genetic disorders or intellectual disabilities

CHSC partners with families, service providers, communities, and policy makers along with the Iowa Departments of Human Services, Public Health, and Education. CHSC has a network of regional centers and satellite locations across Iowa employing over 100 public health professionals, clinical providers, and family navigators.

CHSC operates under a System of Care approach to services for children and youth with special health care needs that recognizes the importance of family, school, and community, and seeks to promote the full potential of all children and youth. CHSC administers Iowa’s Maternal and Child Health Title V Program for children and youth with special health care needs in partnership with the Iowa Department of Public Health.

CHSC is overseen by the University of Iowa Division of Child and Community Health and part of the Carver College of Medicine and the Stead Family Department of Pediatrics.
