Title: Automation Perception Engineer - 2025075

Onsite/Remote: Onsite Position

Your Responsibilities

As an Automation Perception Engineer for John Deere in Dubuque, IA, you will:

  • Develop technology solution in the area of Automation to Autonomy (A2A); 
  • Utilize the Technology Development Process (TDP) to design, develop, and deliver solutions in automation/controls;
  • Develop and apply existing technology into new A2A solutions Lead technology development in A2A with focus in perception system development;
  • Develop and execute test or analysis plan for proof of concept and product verification and validation;
  • Collaborate and communicate with stakeholders on system design concepts, status and decision making.
  • Up to 40% remote work allowed. Must live within normal commuting distance of the worksite. Up to 25% domestic and international travel required.

What Skills You Need

  • 3 years of experience in design and analyze trajectories for autonomous robot/vehicle and optimize dynamic path planning in 3D environment using MATLAB
  • 3 years of experience in design and analyze path planning and scheduling algorithm for multi-robot system in simulation through JavaScript and OpenGL
  • 3 years of experience in design and programming path following algorithm with RTK-GPS system
  • 3 years of experience in design and programming computer vision algorithm in object detection and prediction using C++ and Python
  • 3 years of experience in design and implement path planning algorithm in multi-robot system using embedded system
  • 2 years of experience in design and build machine-learning based decision making module in embedded system
  • 3 years of experience in complex problem-solving skill on trouble shooting hardware and software in autonomous robot/vehicle
  • 3 years of experience in test autonomous robot/vehicle using Qt Creator
  • 3 years of experience in design and modeling 3D objects using Blender
  • 3 years of experience in socket programming in UDP and TCP protocols using C

Education/Experience

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field plus 3 years related experience.

The John Deere Dubuque Works is one of the key facilities in Deere & Company's Construction and Forestry (C&F) Division. The Dubuque Works manufactures backhoe loaders, crawler dozers, and skid steer loaders for the construction industry and knuckleboom loaders and tracked feller bunchers for the forestry industry.  The Dubuque Works also serves as the Center of Excellence for the C&F Division in the areas of Product Engineering, Product Verification and Validation, Supply Management, and Product Support which includes the Dealer Technical Assistance Center.  From a manufacturing perspective, the core competencies of the factory include plate and sheet cutting, machining, welding, paint, and assembly.
