Position Summary:

The University of Dubuque is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Custodian to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across campus facilities. This position plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of the University by ensuring classrooms, offices, restrooms, and common areas are cleaned and maintained to high standards.  Successful candidates will be self-motivated, able to work both independently and as part of a team and committed to supporting the mission of the University.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintain cleanliness of campus buildings, including classrooms, offices, restrooms, and common areas
  • Vacuum, sweep, and mop floors to ensure a safe and sanitary environment
  • Deep clean bathrooms- showers, stools, tile, etc.
  • Wash walls and windows
  • Empty trash and recycling bins and ensure proper disposal
  • Assist with setup and teardown for campus events, including moving furniture, equipment, and supplies
  • Operate floor and carpet machines
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the University's Mission

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to follow checklists and complete assigned tasks without close supervision
  • Works well independently and as part of a team
  • Dependable, punctual, and committed to maintaining a clean, safe environment
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and kneel
  • Ability to climb a 6' ladder
  • Must be able to lift at least 40 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand on your feet for long periods of time

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
  • Driver's license preferred

Current Openings (subject to change):

  • Friday - Monday 5:00 am - 3:30 pm
  • Monday - Friday 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm
  • Sunday - Thursday 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm
  • Tuesday - Saturday 5:00 am - 1:30 pm
  • Tuesday - Saturday 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm
  • Monday - Friday 5:00 am - 1:30 pm

Includes a $0.50 per hour shift differential for 2nd shift
