Job Overview

The University of Dubuque is a growing faith based University that is seeking a Director of Bridge Scholar Program and Developmental Program. This is a full-time, 30 hours per week position. The Director of the Bridge Scholar Program and Developmental Programs is responsible for coordinating multiple facets of the Bridge Scholar Program, including, but not limited to: admission, registration, planning curriculum for Bridge I and Bridge II courses, event planning, day-to-day problem solving with instructors and students, hiring, scheduling and overseeing the Bridge course instructors, and compiling program data. In addition, as director of developmental courses they will schedule courses, hire adjuncts, and oversee curriculum development.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Office of Admission to recruit and admit eligible Bridge scholars
  • Communicate with families and students throughout the summer, as needed
  • Represent the Bridge Scholar Program at New Student Registration days in May and June
  • Work closely with Academic Advising in serving as an academic advisor for Bridge scholars
  • Plan and schedule events
  • Develop and maintain curriculum, syllabi, and course LMS pages for of Bridge I, Bridge II and developmental Math and English courses
  • Schedule and staff all sections of Bridge I, Bridge II and developmental Math and English courses as needed each semester
  • Teach Bridge I or II classes or developmental courses each semester as needed
  • Respond to Academic Alerts for Bridge students who have attendance and/or academic issues and participate in appropriate interventions
  • Work closely with the Director of Learning Support Services in the scheduling of Learning Support Coaches to each Bridge Scholar, assist in classes as needed, and plan events collaborating with the ASC
  • Collect and analyze annual Bridge assessment data, including GPA's and graduation rates, submitting annual report to VPAA
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the University's Mission

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relations with students, faculty and administration
  • Knowledge of learning differences and barriers that impact traditional and non-traditional college students
  • Experience working with underrepresented students from varying academic, economic, social, and cultural backgrounds
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, faculty, and administration
  • Effective problem-solving skills
  • Ability to maintain and model professionalism and appropriate boundaries with students

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree is required; Master's degree preferred
  • 5 years experience in education, literacy, special education or other closely related field
  • Experience working with a diverse student population
