Job Overview
The University of Dubuque is a growing faith-based University that is seeking a Graduate Assistant in the Heritage Center (Audience Services) for the 2026-2027 term, with a potential renewal for 2027-2028.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Collaborative with Heritage Center staff, UD's Fine and Performing Arts Department, University Relations, Advancement, and Alumni offices to advance the performing arts on campus
- Report to the Director of Audience Services for box office and FOH (Front of House) operations and to the Executive Director on event/facility marketing and programming issues
- Maintain strong public relations and deliver high-quality customer service to all Heritage Center patrons and users, both on and off campus
- Coordinate and maintain the volunteer ushering program and class-credit ushering program for Heritage Center
- Supervise all FOH (Front of House) staff, including (and not limited to) ticketing assistants and ushers
- Oversee venue seating layouts for each event and assist to ensure that all FOH (Front of House) responsibilities are executed efficiently and with a customer-focused approach
- Be available to support pre- and post-show functions held in conjunction with theater events
- Compile and share post-event reports with management as requested
- Serve as a liaison for on-site catering services and collaborate with Heritage Center staff to support FOH (Front of House) needs and lobby displays
- Perform other duties in support of the University's Mission
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree is required and the position is conditional based on acceptance into University of Dubuque Masters' program
- Allow flexibility in scheduling, as evening and weekend hours are often required. Work hours will vary based on the Heritage Center event schedule
- Knowledge of the VBO ticketing system for software maintenance, trouble shooting, and updates
- Utilize excellent communication skills - verbal, written, and interpersonal
- High level of organization and attention to detail
All graduate tuition is waived for the student for the term in which they serve as a GA. In return for a waiver of tuition, the assistantship recipient agrees to provide service to the University equivalent to twenty (20) hours per week. This position is eligible for a stipend.
