How can you make an impact?

We have an opening for an experienced, innovative, strategic Academic Designer (Editorial), 6-12 Social Studies (Project Status Worker). The position reports to the Senior Director of the 6-12 Social Studies Academic Design Core Team. The Academic Design Core Team focuses on the research, planning and development of new instructional materials for basal 6-12 Social Studies programs.

This is a remote position open to applicants authorized to work for any employer within the United States. This is a Project Status Worker (PSW) role. with an end date of 6/27/2026.

 

What you will be doing:

  • Develop and produce instructional materials (digital and print) for Social Studies (grades 6-12), including textbooks, activities, videos, worksheets, assessments, and lesson plans.
  • Research curriculum standards, develop program scope and sequence, and collaborate with writers and reviewers to ensure accuracy and grade-appropriateness.
  • Manage and coordinate the work of external freelancers and suppliers.
  • Edit, track, and review instructional materials, ensuring alignment with Social Studies standards and frameworks throughout the development cycle.
  • Collaborate with team members and cross-functional teams to resolve project issues and meet milestone deadlines.

We are looking for someone with…

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably with content knowledge in a major social studies field: US History, World History, World Geography, Economics, Ethnic Studies, or Political Science (Government/Civics).
  • A minimum of 24 months of editorial or educational publishing experience.
  • Excellent communication skills which include a thorough command of the English language, spelling, writing, and grammar. 
  • Must be organized, detail- and deadline-oriented and able to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, and Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to work as a team member in a fast-paced rapidly changing work environment.

The pay range for this position is between $50,000-$75,000 annually, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
