SUMMARY
Provide financial analysis support that is required throughout A.Y. McDonald Industries. Analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements, and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures. Lead tax compliance and assist with external financial statement audit. Lead accounts payable function. Assist with accounting related and general ledger projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Prepare journal entries and reconcile assigned general ledger accounts. Review all other monthly reconciliations prepared by Finance Dept coworkers
- Assist in preparation of monthly management reporting and accompanying schedules, worksheets, and narratives, including variance reports. Assist in providing follow-up and documentation of significant variances.
- Work with tax professionals to develop strategy, respond to document requests, and ensure timely compliance.

Lead accounts payable function by acting as first line on escalations, delegating workload, processing evaluations, and some individual contributor work including account reconciliations and assisting with volume spikes.
- Adhere to compliance requirements for applicable regulations, internal controls, and corporate policies and procedures; Coordinate, resolve, and ensure financial compliance with regulatory agencies.
- Support tactical and strategic development initiatives for management reporting, data warehousing and profitability reporting.
- Lead department and organization special projects as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year College or university and two to four years of progressively responsible experience in accounting industry or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, suppliers, consultants, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, fractions, ratios, proportions, and percentages and apply these concepts to practical situations. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
