ASSOCIATE BUYER

 

Employment Type: Full Time

Supervisor: Buyer

Location: Dubuque Corporate Office

 

Job Description

Responsible for re-ordering products and maintaining inventory.  Individual will also be responsible for reacting to assigned buyer’s xmails as well as warehouse problems, UPC additions, and line review requests.  Will provide planogram assistance as well as respond to other requests for needed assistance.

 

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience: 3 - 6 months related

 

Job Duties

  • Monitor Product Lines
    • Reorder to maintain store stock levels
    • Monitor inventory movement by computer
    • Follow up on order shipments and backorders
    • Load new items, update prices
    • Make suggestions to improve sales, productivity, communication, turns and ROI
    • Invoice Corrections
  • Assist with AD Preparation
    • Order and ensure that advertised inventory is in stock
  • Order Merchandise
    • Complete purchase orders and/or initiate transfers
    • Compare inventory and project need. Communicate trends to buyer(s)
    • Assist with special orders
    • Correspond with vendors on product availability and order status
  • Answer Correspondence from Store Associates
    • Answer questions about products
    • Give advice to solve problems
    • Take store requests
    • Follow up on all correspondence – Xmails, phone, special orders, etc.
  • Stay Informed
    • Evaluate reports
  • Other duties as requested by management may include, but will not be limited to:
    • Help in the warehouse
    • Assist with inventories

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages, and volume
  • Sufficient knowledge of computer programs, bookkeeping and accounting principles to accurately maintain basic company records
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point, as well as knowledge of spreadsheets and database software
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High degree of self-motivation
  • Excellent attention to detail and able to meet deadlines with accuracy
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to plan, prioritize and organize a diversified workload with multiple priorities
  • Ability to work well under pressure and flexible to perform duties as volume deems necessary
  • Ability to identify, analyze and solve complex problems
  • Exhibit a high level of integrity and business ethics
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Physical Demands

Frequent physical demands include sitting, standing, walking, dexterity, and light grasping.   Occasional physical demands include lifting up to 25 lbs., bending, stooping, reaching, kneeling, squatting, climbing stairs and firmly grasping.  The employee is required to accept incoming calls and must be able to hear and speak.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision adequate for the incumbent to perform the responsibilities and functions of the job efficiently.  The associate must have the manual dexterity to manually operate and use a computer and other basic office equipment.

 

Work Environment and Working Conditions

This position will be performed inside a climate-controlled office facility.  The noise level is low to medium and typical of an office environment.  Potential hazards include electrical hazards.  Atmospheric conditions are typical of an office environment and may include exposure to odors and dust.
