Job Overview

The University of Dubuque has a growing Aviation Department that is seeking an Aviation Dispatch Assistant. The University of Dubuque offers an excellent benefits package including tuition remission, paid holidays, vacation and sick time, and a retirement match.

Hours: Second shift with a rotating schedule of Monday - Friday and Tuesday - Saturday

Starting Wage: $15.00 per hour

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Dispatch supervisor with managing tasks related to the scheduling and dispatching of aircraft and simulators and any dispatch operations-related responsibilities
  • Verify flight plans, review weather, track aircraft, maintain necessary records, and provide reports as needed
  • Communicate with students, flight instructors, and other operations staff on scheduling and dispatch needs and coordinate all related activities
  • Open and close the Babka Aviation Learning center and other UD facilities
  • Coordinate maintenance-related activities and squawking of aircraft with the aviation maintenance staff
  • Wing watch if needed and coordinate stacking of aircraft in hangars
  • Support the Director of Aviation Safety to ensure compliance with SMS requirements
  • Engage in life-long learning and scholarship opportunities to continuously enhance the Aviation Program and furtherance of the safety culture
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the University's Mission

Requirements:

  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
  • Capable of communicating effectively via radio with aircraft, orally, and writing
  • Exceptional skills using Microsoft Office and other computer software
  • Ability to pass an FAA/DOT drug test
  • Experience in dispatching or similar operations in an aviation or non-aviation environment is preferred
  • Valid US driver's license
