Business Overview:
Thompson Truck & Trailer is a local, family
owned, full-service commercial truck, trailer and tire dealership serving
customers across Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois. Thompson is equipped to
handle ALL truck and trailer needs by providing sales and leasing options, expert
service and maintenance, access to an extensive parts inventory, and tire and
retread facilities. We pride ourselves in providing excellent customer service
and this position will play an integral part in that overall mission.
Position Initiative:
Develop and grow existing and prospective customer
relationships through strategic communication and problem solving, resulting in
increased sales opportunities and market penetration. This role will actively
seek out new customers in our dealership area of responsibility through cold
calling, in-person visits, and hosting meetings and events.
Responsibilities:
· Shares knowledge about Thompson's offerings with current and prospective customers
· Tracks and analyzes market and performance
trends to identify and proactively capitalize areas of opportunity
·
Designs, develops, and executes strategic plans
for growth in the Dubuque market
·
Fosters, develops, and maintains positive and
effective relationships with current and prospective customers
·
Contributes to the development of annual sales
plan forecasting and customer acquisition plans and consistently reports on
progress to the leadership team
·
Identifies areas where cross functional team
members can partner to provide a solution for the customer and execute an
efficient and seamless handoff
·
Collaborates with sales team to identify and
grow opportunities within territory and develop new business with existing
clients and/or identify areas of improvement
·
Evaluates and manages new business opportunities
and oversees market analysis, monitors competitive activity, and proactively
identifies customer needs
·
Conducts consistent and strategic customer contact
and lead generation within area of responsibility
·
Manages and updates the customer relationship and
marketing information system to document, develop, and maximize use of prospect
database
·
Learns and masters CRM tool and helps to train current sales staff on reporting and utilization of system
·
Incorporates knowledge of Thompson's products and
services, the customer, and key competitors into the sales process and uses
that knowledge to uncover customer needs and create value-based solutions
·
Develops, maintains, and shares in-depth knowledge of
Thompson's customers, prospects, competition, threats, opportunities, market
share, key contacts, and more.
