Job Description:
This position is responsible for creating production schedules, expedient entry of transactions and plan parts necessary to achieve a high level of customer satisfaction.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
PRE-PRODUCTION TASKS including:
Define parts in MRP and plan for availability of parts to execute daily production schedules.
Determine promise dates based on customer requirements and the ability of manufacturing to achieve daily production levels.
Reviewing accurate bills of materials and routers. (with “configurations,” this needs to be coordinated with Systems Personnel) and doing cost “roll-ups for fabricated parts.
Smooth orders to create attainable production schedules.
Understand MRP logic and read reports to plan parts and production schedule.
Communicate with supervision, order engineering and production personnel to make effective execution decisions. Specific examples:
Provide supervision with necessary capacity requirements and adjust schedule accordingly. Work with order engineering to provide production with necessary product documentation.
Disperse shop orders (schedules and packets) up front.
Input data, knowing which screens are appropriate for each transaction, find information when missing, communicate needs effectively and work with supervisor, production and other staff to solve problems. Handling problems, researching mistakes and investigating cycle counting problems. Specific duties include:
Credit stocks, misc. Issues, inter-company transfers, work orders, etc.
Process shipments in Enterprise One system, printing pick slips, workbench errors communicating problem trends to appropriate parties, and cycle counts.
Contacting representatives on shipment delays and corporate traffic department on changes.
Responsible for executing and supporting the quality system and procedures in the effort for continuous improvement. PRE- Responsible and POST- Offer feedback and communication.
Inventory Planning:
Create and send purchase orders for purchased stock components in the quantities and adequate lead time order to successfully complete production schedule in a timely fashion.
Create and manage work orders for all manufactured stock parts in the quantities and lead time to successfully complete production schedule in a timely fashion.
Work with manufacturing supervisors and manufacturing personnel to insure smooth handling of inventory.
Coordinate with planning, purchasing and production supervisors any work order variance and make proposals for process adjustments as needed.
Review overissue report at minimum twice a day and make corrections as needed and coordinate changes with planning and production.
Understand MRP logic and read reports or create reports to plan for manufactured stock parts.
Develop inventory and planning processes to increase the accuracy of lot sized parts, nonstock programs, MRO programs or other industry practices.
Perform daily requests for inventory adjustments, credit stocks and miscellaneous issues. Ensure that supporting data for said request matches the entry being requested. Coordinate with affected parties as needed.
Identify slow moving or inactive inventory and recommend disposition of such.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Prevent stock outs of inventory
High inventory turns.
Maintain minimal inventory levels of stocked components while insuring appropriate levels to support the production schedule.
Ability of production to effectively execute daily schedules.
Collaborative effort with production supervision to schedule overtime, determine production staffing levels and appropriate manufacturing capacity / loads.
Required Experience:
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
