Your Responsibilities
As an Automation and Capacity Manager at John Deere Dubuque Works located in Dubuque, Iowa, you will.....
- Drive business transformation by leading projects to automate complete value streams including fabrication, material flow, assembly, and inspection processes.
- Lead strategy, develop business cases and execute capital investment to improve cost structure overall competitiveness.
- Lead talent planning, talent development, talent acquisition and organizational structure to support increasing level of automation and technology.
- Collaborate with internal manufacturing leaders, enterprise technology stack experts, product development engineers and external automation integrators.
- Collaborate with shop floor leadership, Labor Relations, and Union Leadership to build trust in technology and implement innovative solutions.

What Skills You Need
- Experience in financial principles required for strategic planning and capital expenditure
- Experience in business planning, large scale project implementation and change management
- Technical and practical knowledge of automation, controls design and industrial environments
- Experience with Value Stream Mapping and other lean manufacturing principles
- Proven ability to scout new technologies, benchmark innovative solutions and carry through to implementation
- Ability to communicate strategic vision to leadership, and engage with technical teams, production employees and union leadership
- Ability to collaborate with technology and product development engineers
What Makes You Stand Out
- Experience implementing $10Million+ automation transformation projects in a heavy equipment manufacturing environment
- Experience partnering with external automation integrators
- Drive for continual business improvement through technology and innovation
- Exposure to various manufacturing systems and data flows: Process planning systems, Material Requirements Planning, Manufacturing Execution Systems
- Exposure to various automation applications: factory automation devices, machine to machine connectivity, robotics, collaborative automation, automated conveyance/storage/retrieval
- Experience with Agile methodologies and/or SCRUM certifications
- IoT, perception technologies - rich technical expertise or experience implementing Industry 4.0 technologies
Education Details
Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience in a related career field (i.e., Industrial Manufacturing, Automation)
