Carpentry Apprentice

Job Overview

1. Assisting with measuring, cutting, and assembling wood components for various structures
2. Select and evaluate materials for potential defects
3. Installing fixtures and fittings such as handles, locks, and hinges
4. Cleaning work areas, organizing materials, and maintaining a safe job site
5. Learning proper use and care of carpentry tools like saws, drills, planers, and levels 
6. Reading and interpreting designs to meet specifications set by Architects
7. Work closely with an experienced carpenter, following their directions and learning best practices
8. Moving from simple tasks like material handling to more complex tasks like framing walls and installing cabinetry as skills develop
9. Demolition of construction material
10. Wearing proper PPE 

1. Familiar with hand tools, equipment, materials, and practices of carpentry
2. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the construction trades
3. Ability to interpret and work from penciled sketches, drawings, plans, and construction documents
4. Ability to follow oral and written instructions
5. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in writing and orally
6. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and other company employees
7. Reliable attendance is required
8. Valid driver’s license required
