Overview
Shift: PRN, as needed. You will work a minimum of (1) 8 hour shift per month, (2) weekends per year and (1) holiday per year.
The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) provides services under the supervision and direction of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) in accordance with the scope of the profession, the State Practice Act, Licensure, and policies of UnityPoint Health to promote client participation in their everyday life occupations, specific to their age, context and life situation. The COTA is responsible for performing therapeutic interventions and contribute toward assessment as part of the Occupational Therapy plan of care.

Responsibilities
- Carries out the plan of care established and supervised by the Occupational Therapist.
- Participates in multidisciplinary care conferences.
- Communicates progress with plan of care to the Occupational Therapist.
- Documents patient response to treatment according to standards and regulations.
- Follows physician protocols and the Occupational Therapist's goals/objectives.
- Suggests assistive devices in collaboration with the Occupational Therapist.
- Arranges for equipment needs related to age/size of client.
- Participates in quality improvement activities.
- Communicates - both veral and written - effectively, clearly and concisely.
- Demonstrates effective time management skills.
Qualifications
Education:
- Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
Certificate/License:
- An active, non-conditional Occupational Therapy Assistant license issued by the Iowa Department of Public Health via the Iowa Bureau of Professional Licensure is required.
