Description:
**$10,000 Sign-On Bonus**
Under general supervision and in collaboration with the director, provides leadership on assigned shift to ensure the qualify of care and operational effectiveness of the total care program. Utilizes skills in assessing, planning, organizing, and evaluating the provision of patient care. Demonstrates system thinking, initiates improvement strategies, promotes employee development, and works collaboratively with physicians utilizing this nursing unit. Adheres to the principles of the Caring Model, Citizenship Standards, philosophies and mission of MercyOne Medical Center in all aspects of job performance.
Specific duties which will be performed by Charge Nurse Role:

Determines daily staffing needs for the nursing unit, consistent with patient care needs and unit staffing guidelines.

Serves as liaison between medical staff and nursing unit staff.

Serves as point person for physicians, managers, and other clinical staff in relationship to patient conditions and needs. Provides report by verbal or written format.

Keeps open communication to physicians about changes in nursing unit operations and protocols.

Provides direct patient care for patient population served by nursing unit.
EDUCATION, LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred or within 4 years of hire.

Must be a registered nurse and must hold an active license to practice nursing in the State of Iowa.

Certification by a nationally recognized nursing organization is preferred and strongly encouraged.

The registered nurse continuously seeks opportunities to enhance his or her own professional nursing practice. Membership in an appropriate professional nursing organization is recommended.

Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training is required within 6 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter.

Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) will be required within 30 days of hire and every 2 years thereafter.
