Location Stephenson County IL

Schedule: Full-time hours with varying shifts based on production needs. Overtime, weekends, and vacation coverage may be required. Occasional travel to cold storage facilities as needed.
Pay: $27/hour

Position Overview:

A local manufacturer is seeking a skilled and motivated Cheesemaker to oversee the production of soft-ripened cheeses from raw milk intake through final make completion. This role is responsible for executing established production procedures, maintaining strict sanitation standards, and ensuring quality and safety remain top priorities throughout the process.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and execute the full cheesemaking process in soft-ripened production.
Coordinate with milk receiving to confirm proper volume and temperature prior to processing.
Accurately calculate and measure ingredients and document production data on make sheets.
Monitor quality indicators and ensure adherence to established formulas and procedures.
Maintain exceptional sanitary conditions during and after production, including full clean-up and sanitation of equipment and workspace.
Track consumable materials and communicate inventory needs.
Support affinage (aging process) activities as needed.
Operate production equipment and assist in other operational areas when required.
Perform preventative maintenance and sanitation tasks to maintain food safety standards.

Work Environment:

This position operates within a food production facility and regularly involves:

Exposure to hot and cold environment, wet and humid conditions, chemical cleaning agents, and industrial noise and vibration
Frequent standing, bending, stooping, squatting, and reaching
Occasional stair or ladder climbing
Team-assisted pushing and pulling of carts or pallets up to 325 lbs.
Occasional lifting of 25–50 lbs.
