Job Overview
The Childcare Assistant Director is responsible for supporting the director in the development, administration, supervision, and operations of the program. This position ensures the program(s) operate at a high level of quality and meet state and federal regulations. In the absence of the Childcare Director, this position would carry out all day-to-day operations of the center. Substitute in the classrooms as needed. The role requires collaborative working relationships with all necessary departments, the community, regulatory officials, and families in the performance of its operations.
This position is Full-Time/Salary Exempt

Requirements:
- Bachelor's or higher degree in early childhood, child development, or elementary education preferred; may consider an associate degree in child development or bachelor's degree in a child related field or a Child development associate (CDA) or one year diploma in child development from a community college or technical school; Bachelor's degree in a non-child related field or associate degree in a non-child related field or completion of at least two years of a four-year degree.
- A minimum of one year of demonstrated leadership &/or supervisory experience.
- Free from a conviction or prior employment history of child or resident abuse or dependent adult abuse.
- Experience working in a childcare center or preschool setting preferred, may consider child development related experience or registered child development home or non-registered family home provider.
- Must complete CPR, First Aid, Universal Precautions, Mandatory Reporter. Better Kid Care NSO, and Essentials Child Care Preservice Series in the first three months of employment and 10 contact hours of child related training annually.
- Be approved by DHS Center Director Qualifications.

- Physical demands:
- Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, grasp, push/pull, and move about center. Standing may be necessary for up to 75% the of the day.
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl throughout the day.
- Ability to immediately respond to an emergency from a seated or kneeling position.
- Ability to talk, hear and see.
- Required to lift up to 35 pounds frequently and occasionally may need to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Travel to various community locations.
- Ability to drive vehicles.
- Work environment:
- Position can be stressful due to the level of responsibility, varying programs, and supporting children who may use verbal and/or physical aggression towards self, staff, or other children.
- Ability to work in a noisy environment.
Ability to work in various temperature and weather conditions for indoor and outdoor activities.
