Job Overview
Express Employment Professionals is partnering with a local nonprofit organization to hire a Construction & Youth Program Supervisor. This position blends hands-on construction/carpentry work with mentorship, helping youth and young adults gain valuable trade skills, confidence, and real-world experience.
We’re looking for a flexible, hands-on leader with at least five years of construction/carpentry experience and a passion for teaching and guiding others.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and mentor a small group (2–4 youth/young adults) in construction and carpentry projects.
- Supervise home modification projects for seniors, including grab bar installation, flooring repairs, tub/shower work, and handrail installation.
- Guide woodworking and general maintenance projects on-site in a Transitional Employment Pathway program.
- Occasionally support gut rehabilitation projects on residential homes.
- Teach proper tool use, safety practices, and maintenance skills.
- Encourage teamwork, responsibility, and community service participation.
- Monitor project progress, maintain organized worksites, and complete documentation.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in construction and carpentry.
- Prior experience working with youth or young adults preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring skills.
- Ability to plan and organize projects effectively.
- Must pass a background check.
- Knowledge of local building codes and trade practices.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent use of hand/power tools and mechanical equipment.
- Ability to climb ladders/scaffolding, bend, kneel, stoop, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying conditions.
- Must wear appropriate safety attire when required.
