Job Overview

The Aviation Department at the University of Dubuque is seeking an CRJ Flight Instructor (Part-time).  

Position Summary:

The University of Dubuque is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Jet Simulator Instructor to provide instruction in advanced jet systems and Crew Resource Management (CRM) within the University's state-of-the-art advanced jet simulator. This role supports the development of students' technical proficiency and decision-making skills in a high-fidelity training environment, preparing them for careers in multi-crew, turbine aircraft operations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Jet simulator flight training activities for the flight operations program
  • Conduct simulation sessions related to advanced jet operations
  • Ensure compliance with Title 14 CFR applicable to flight training, other regulatory policies and the SMS
  • Ensure compliance with record-keeping related to flight training
  • Coordinate with the Aviation Safety Manager on all safety and security-related concerns
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the University's Mission

Skills and Abilities:

  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Understanding of advanced jet aircraft systems
  • Strong knowledge of aviation safety standards and their application in training scenarios
  • Familiarity with FAA regulations and other common aviation rules relevant to flight instruction and simulator operations
  • Understanding of Crew Resource Management (CRM) Concepts
  • Superb teaching ability, with a proven capacity to engage students, adapt instruction to varying learning styles, and promote professional growth

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate Degree Required
  • Airline Transport Pilot Certificate Preferred
  • Hold a Turboprop or Jet-Turbine type rating
  • CRJ Series Type Certification Preferred
  • Airline experience or experience working in a flight deck crew environment preferred
  • Valid US driver's license
